Hey folks,

I am an Audi S5 owner and quite enjoy the car, but I’ve been toying with the idea of moving into a Porsche.

I love the power of the S5 (it’s chipped) but am partial to SUVs (i like the visibility of being up higher) and I don’t much care for the looks of the SQ5 and the SQ8 is overpriced.

I am looking at the Cayenne - a CPO. I typically buy cars that are a couple of years old and which already took the depreciation hit, but are also low miles.

Anything I should know? Opt for maintenance package? I think extended warranty is a good idea given the complexity of these vehicles (Audi, MB, Porsche)?

I guess my main concern is reliability, followed by comfort, power and a quiet cabin.

TIA!

    I would urge you to look at the X5M and/or X5 m50i.

I think at the Cayenne’s large sticker price, both the X5M and the M50i will stand up very well against the upper trims of the Cayenne.

But, if BMW doesn’t suit you, I get that. I would probably aim for the GTS trim or higher. I love Porsche, but BMW does the sporty SUV the right way and the new iDrive is awesome. I’ve had 3 x5’s in the past 5-6 years and they have given me exactly zero issues.

X5m suspension is trash for daily driving. It’s been tuned too much for the circuit and not enough for comfort… which is crazy for a SUV.

Agree on m50i though. Those are the perfect balance of sporty and comfort.

Appreciate the reply. I’ve had 3 BMWs and really liked them - all of them had issues… so I’m weary. Granted I am going back a few years but truth be told - I’ve owned a lot of vehicles but not yet a Porsche…
