New Cayenne owner here, was wondering if I should invest in a dash cam or not. If yes, which one do you use or recommend ? There is a dash cam that’s sold by Porsche but I’m not sure if it’s good. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks

I have a Blackvue 750 2ch on all my cars. I feel naked if I drive a vehicle without one.

I don’t because the legal status is unclear where I live, but nowadays most dash cams are good enough. If you have a 1k resolution, it’s good enough. Have one at each end, idiots can come from any direction.

Garmin Mini 2, hook it up to the mirror power supply with dongar cable and you’ll have zero cables and it’ll be invisible to you as well because it’s tiny.

Autodimming mirror has a power source you can splice into without any cutting using the adapter cable.

I’ve had my Thinkware F800 Pro for almost 6 years now, it’s been installed in 3 diff cars and worked great in all of them. Dual channel (front and rear cams), motion detection, parking mode, the works with 1080p vid quality. Thinkware all around has great products

Blackvue 900, 2 channel; also had one in my 996 that was totaled when it was rear-ended by a perpetrator who was running from police. When I retrieved the mini SD to pull the video I discovered that the rear channel had failed some time previously. The lesson is to check your device(s) regularly.

I installed a FITCAMX, quality is pretty decent for both day and night driving. What I like about it is the integration with the mirror, it looks like it belongs there and I didn’t have to run any additional wiring.

So, a few questions here: Do our cars need to be pre-wired in order to do this ? And if we fiddle with the mirror, is that going to void the warranty ? Do you have a video link maybe that you followed to do the installation yourself ?

I bought a fitcamx for my cayman, looks oem on the mirror mount. Quality/usage seems good to me so far.
