Hello,

I just went to oilchangers, yes that’s the actual name of the establishment

They forgot to tell me that I need my car off during the oil change… I drive a 2020 Prius.

They said it was fine as long as it wasn’t spitting oil back out and the car is a hybrid system.

Am I being lied to? This is my first time getting one on my own

    Just because the car’s ignition is on, doesn’t mean the engine is running. Especially in a hybrid like yours, the car’s computer manages starting/stopping of the engine. Since your car was stopped, the computer stopped the engine as it didn’t deem it necessary for it to be running.

    As for the shop, they wouldn’t change the oil of an engine that’s running, that level of stupidity is quite rare. If the engine was running, it would be pretty darn obvious - it would spit oil back at them, among other things.
