I have been looking for affordable tires for nearly 2 months. Mostly for take-offs or something barely used. I found a guy on Marketplace with some “Starfire” tires. 31x10.50r15 for $275. He said they have maybe 500 miles on them and he bought them in 2021.

I headed over today and exchanged the cash and tires. I got them in the car and noticed they were dated 0207. All of them. I went back and explained they are older than what he told me. Then he said he bought them used in 2021. I said I misunderstood him then and that I wouldn’t want to purchase them because they’re so old. He said that they’re fine and they’re good tires and he was getting a bit aggressive so I just left with the tires.

I’m pretty upset and don’t know what I can even do with them at this point. I don’t feel safe with them on and doubt anyone will even mount them. Any advice?

No one in their right mind is gonna pay $275 for 15 year old starfires. So he actually could go to small claims if he has any evidence the tires were misrepresented. It’s not worth it though.

He will be laughed at. Buyers must do their due diligence when making any and all purchases. Similar to buying an as is vehicle and it blowing up on the way home. Your problem not mine

I mean I asked them how old they were and he said he purchased them in 2021. I looked before he or I left the premises and then went back and asked to not go through with it. He refused, and I guess rightfully so because I had the tires and he had the money which makes the transaction complete or whatever. I know it’s not worth it. Lesson learned
