Basically title, took my 2.7l F150 with 79,050 miles to the dealership with an intermittent check engine light and the code P0430.

No noticeable symptoms.

Service writer suggested I got a bad batch of gas, he said the reason for the intermittent light was because the system only checks the fuel periodically, so one day it says the fuel is bad and the light comes on, then at next check it decides the fuel is fine so the light goes off.

He recommended and said the technician would probably also recommend a fuel injector flush to clear any residue from the bad gas. Because “catalytic converters are expensive”

My concern is the dealership just trying to make some money off me with the flush?

I don’t think the cost of the catalytic converter would be a problem because it should be covered under the EPA emissions warranty for 8years/80k miles, right?

You cant really flush a fuel injector while it is in the car. There are fuel injector cleaning machines that operate outside of the engine. You can try adding some fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank. It might work.
