I know Toyota is releasing a small EV truck in some Asian countries but will Toyota drop a small truck in the US? Currently, their “small” truck is the Tacoma but it’s gotten bigger. Was hoping if I missed some news about a small truck being sold in the US.
I think it’s been confirmed they are bringing out the stout name again. Small maverick sized truck. Not really sure what motor, but here’s hoping to a normal ice motor, that’ll be my next vehicle
It’ll likely be the same motor lineup as the Rav if I had to guess. They’ll be similar size/weight/capability.
If I was in the market for a small truck I’d get a 2nd Gen Tacoma. Anything with less than 250k miles with a solid frame is mint.
I miss those Tacomas. So much better than a prerunner style.
They should just bring back the 5 lug Tacoma with nicer amenities. Who would have guessed eight years after it was dropped from the lineup that people would be clamoring for its return?
My wife’s 2016 SR access cab with the 2.7 gets 20-22mpg pretty easily. I’d imagine a 5 lug variant with the new 6 speed auto and an air dam could squeeze out 25+ mpg.
The only thing people need to keep in mind is that the 2.7 paired with the modern 6 speed auto is gutless compared to most modern vehicles. I know people lust over the look of the maverick, but to get better mpgs than the new Tacoma, you’re not going to be going anywhere very fast with a standard internal combustion engine. For any decent performance you need a turbo or hybrid system and even then fuel economy isn’t guaranteed. Everything comes with trade-offs.
US Government regulations require such high fuel economy standards for small wheelbase vehicles that some of the great stuff they get in other countries can never end up here.
We’re more likely to get Maverick or Santa Cruz competitor, based on the Corolla cross
They’re making one, they’re reviving the Toyota stout.
I’d read that they were going to bring back the “stout” name as a competitor to the maverick. $20k (ish) more basic truck
