As the title said, I believe I put regular gas into my echo tb580 leaf blower. It was an small old gas tank and I didn’t know the wiser…

Ran fine for 5 minutes or so until it just suddenly stopped. Started it up again after a few minutes and it stopped after a minute or so, no odd noises or anything. Engine was extremely hot.

Can I just empty the gas in the tank, mix 50:1 gas/oil and then pour that back in and start it up?

Any other suggestions? Thanks

Very likely you’ve killed it. Running regular fuel in a 2 stroke lacks the lubrication for the piston and rod.

Likely looking at minimum new piston and cylinder.

Sure you can try, but the damage is done, you likely completely destroyed that motor. This is like running a car engine with zero oil in the crankcase, running it till it locked up, then freeing it, then running it till it locks up again. It’s destroyed, needs a rebuild, even that may not be possible, this kind of damage usually ruins more than a rebuild can fix.
