My wifes 2014 Traverse was having intermittent issues this the theft deterrent system (key not registering with the module). Reading upon this I saw that the likely cause was a failing theft deterrent module. I ordered a replacement module and got it installed but the car won’t turn over now. The locked car icon is not lit so it seems to be reading the key ok. THere are no trouble codes at all when doing a scan. The car does start fine when I plug in the old module and hold a spare key to it. I tried registering the keys with the new module (3 cycles of 10 minutes ignition on/ 10 seconds off) without any luck. Is there something else that needs to be done after installing a new theft deterrent module? Thanks in advance for any help.

It has to be programmed to the car, then have the keys programmed. Call a dealer and see if they will program it for you, some won’t do it unless they sell you the module and in the case of a security device they may ask for proof of ownership.

Thanks. I was fearing that it needed to be programmed. I’ll swap it back out and get it to the dealer or preferably see if my local garage can do it since our local Chevy dealer is a crook.
