In general, I don’t mind driving EV cars, but man the lack of physical controls drives me nuts. I don’t know why every EV car designer just collectively agreed that physical buttons are a thing in the past and go all in that centre screen. It’s so counter intuitive. That is one major reason I went with the new Accord instead of getting an EV: the AC knobs. During night drive, the thee knobs have a ring of white light around them which make the interior look pretty cool. Also it’s super easy to control fan speed and temperature using the knobs. I’m interested in the upcoming VW ID7, but even the AIR VENTS are controlled with the screen, like WTF??? And I thought it’s dumb to open the glove box using the screen in Tesla.
It’ll take about a day to get used to the lack of buttons and from then on, whenever you have to drive an ICE car with 100 buttons and knobs, you’ll be incredibly annoyed. The touchscreen makes so much sense and you rarely have to adjust things, maybe a couple times a drive.
the thing is ICE cars don’t have 100 buttons and most designs are very easy to find the button to control the AC. In my car, the AC button is exactly where I need it and I don’t even have to take my eyes off the road to find it. Can’t say it will be the same with touchscreen
Tesla you can use the steering wheel dial to adjust AC, but who adjusts the AC that often? I’ve got it tuned pretty well, and kinda ignore it.
