I’m riding through a light show where we are supposed to turn the lights off. The keep swapping back into auto.

    Noticed I can’t do this on MX-30 either. Haven’t looked further into it yet, but I imagine if you disable DRLs in the settings, and flip the stick to Off or Parking Lights, that might do it.

    Put switch in the marker light position? Small flashlight aimed at the light sensor? It’s becoming standard for automakers to put in failsafes to turn the headlights on at night due to brain dead idiots that think their DRLs are the headlights.

    Unfortunately it’s impossible. With the newer Mazda’s, they made it idiot-proof so people don’t drive around at night without their lights on. You can turn it off while stationary but it’ll just turn back on when you start driving.

      That’s so annoying because although leds last a lot longer than halogen bulbs, they don’t last forever. They don’t even make them serviceable. So, if one burns out you’ll have to replace the entire assembly. And if it’s several years down the road, one might be more faded than the other so you’d have to buy both to make it even. I don’t know if you’ve ever looked up the prices of headlight assemblies nowadays, but they aren’t cheap.

    If the car is moving the lights are on in all new Mazdas.

    Where are you that you have to turn the lights off in light snow, this makes no sense to me.

      OP said a light show, not light snow. :)

      I’m guessing it’s something like the Magic of Lights, those displays of Christmas lights that get set up in a bunch of cities, where you drive along a set path amid a bunch of different light displays. Ours always has a big sign at the front asking people to turn off their headlights, because sometimes the path means cars will directly face one another and you don’t want cars driving and being unable to see the display or staff around the pathway (even if they’re only crawling at 10km).
