All I know is it was a mk4, vr6, manual. I wanna know more about it and if you guys have any knowledge please share.
Looks like a mk7 gti with performance package
Yup seems to be a car
Looks like a gti
Its a VW golf 3 door idk what more oyu want to know if you already know its a vr6.
Not with those wheels. Also, I think it’s a mk4 jetta front clip. mk4 Golf/gti’s were interchangable front clips with the jetta/boras. Didn’t realize someone would attempt this monstrosity with a mk3+mk4 but here we are.
Thats just a mk3 front clip
I had a mk4 Jetta and frequented a VW forum year ago. There were plenty of guys on their changing out their front clips between Jettas & Golfs/GTIs. They called them Getta (Jetta with a GTI front) and Jolf/ JTI (you get the picture). Gettas looked dumb as shit to me.
Mk3 polo, often rust where most vw rust wheel arches, c frame, sun roof if they have it most of the time leaked, but engine and transmission usually reliable (depends on engne type) i had the ibiza and now the Cordoba wich is based on them “its an car”
It’s not a polo. It’s a gti.
The rear window looks more like that of a Polo not like a Golf 3, Not every VR6 is a GTI.
Black p o s
Seems kinda a dumb thing to say about a VR6.
Jetta
Rabbit?
Volkswagen golf 3
It’s a mk3 gti vr6, rounded turn signal in the front, amber colored, so it’s a North American model from between 1995-1998.
As I was reading your excellent and informative reply, I suddenly had a flashback to the courtroom scene from the movie “My Cousin Vinny”.
It’s called disclosure ya dickhead
A couple yutes
Lol… Did you watch the Great Value version, My Relative Vincent?
"Two youts. "
“I shot the clerk?”
Mr Gambini, what, pray tell, is a “yout”?
Two what?
That positrack, it’ll get ya every time.
Thank you this was really helpful. I wanted to know the year most of all.
I am curious, are you trying to buy that exact model of car? Do not have to answer if it is too private…
How do you know it’s a VR6? Some friends back in the day were super into GTIs, but I could never tell what motor was in it other than the badge in the back.
DE wheels only came 5 lug, assuming this wasn’t hub swapped, to run those wheels it’s gotta be a vr6 equipped car.
You forgot to say how many miles the car had at the time of the photo.
What he said. 98 GTI VR6 if those are the factory wheels.
Did not wake up today expecting a vwvortex throwback
IB4TL!
Pic post, 56k beware!
Two fents, one krub… I can’t remember the rest lol but I miss vortex.
Honda-Tech vs. Vortex forum wars was legit peak internet.
I was just joining Vortex when that was going down. It was wild.
Burshes
I forgot about Krueger two fents. Also Lumber Jetta.
Did you really know all this information by heart?
Yes.
You are on the money! God i miss my mk3 vr6 manual…
Same buddy, same. My '98 was my first car. I sold it 11 years ago and still think about it pretty often, its wild. I put a bus length on my buddy’s '94 cobra when I had mine. Granted there were 2 people in my car and 4 in his, but he was fucking piiiiiiiiiissed. That little car was all go no show, total turd but it absolutely ripped.
Just a quick question since you seem to know a lot about this stuff…
Which vr6 is better overall the 12v or the 24v?
For simplicity 12v, for reliability 24v. Neither are great and both have chain guide issues due to metal on plastic contact points. No matter what you’re looking at a car that’s a minimum of 16 years old. 24v would be my choice because they came in the mk4 which was just an overall more pleasant daily experience than the mk3 as a total package. The 24v also comes equipped with the o2m six speed manual, which is more expensive service wise, but more than makes up for it in durability and driving experience. The mk3 is a well loved generation but it isn’t a particularly great car.
mk4 also available in 12v.
Correct, but buying any 24v means it’s only mk4 chassis.
Awesome. Thanks for the info. My brother had an 03 GTI with the 6 speed. It was a great car and the transmission was incredibly smooth. I’ve been looking mostly for a Mk4 Jetta but I wouldtond the GTI just for the practicality of a hatchback.
I had a 12v vr6 in a mk3 gti, my brother had a 24v mk4 jetta…they were identical in terms lf acceleration. 12v was definitely simpler but both were amazing.
Still love DE wheels on a Golf. I had a late ML3 99.0 4 Dr golf but sadly had the 2 liter four lug wheels.
I don’t think they did vr6 until mk4?
Yep, mk3 was the first gen for them in golfs. At the risk of sounding all “-well akshully-“ lol… the Corrado slc was a vr6 and corrado’s are mk2 based. They were also in the B3 Passat.
1995 for the gti (mk3) and 1992 it was in the Corrado. Those were the first gen 12v motor cars that still used OBD1 and had egr valves. 1996 and forward GTI’s were OBD2 cars Mk4 in 1999 and went to 24v.
Can confirm because I had one and sold it. It’s an mk3 vr6. If you still have it, don’t sell it. It’s a beautiful car. It has a very throaty sound to the exhaust. Very little for special features and electronics which is beautiful, and when you sit in it, it’s sold and feels like you’re in control.
That edit lmao. I sold mine 11 years ago and still feel that way, mk3 vr6’s are just the fucking best GTI ever made and if you disagree you never drove one.
Golf 3 Rally G60 maybe
North American mk3 gti vr6. Judging by the wheels, it’s a 1997 or 1998. Probably has black leather, but might have leftover Driver’s Edition cloth seats. Wheels are 15x6 5x100 and made by speedline. Motor made around 172hp.
