I know Donut did a video and basically they’re pretty easy to get around. Might stop any low criminals that don’t know that or have the time/tools to get around.
My old roommate once lost his key for the wheel locks. I was able to zip them off in about 10 seconds with an extractor, hammer, and impact gun. Probably took an extra 5 sec over the standard nuts.
Pro tip: you can have replacement wheel lock keys made with some documentation and a good photo. Ask me how I know.
Why would I do that when I can just remove it with the extractor set I already own. They are worthless anyway.
I mean you can just buy the whole set on ebay

This has become far too common, with any car. Crime in this country has become very concerning as of late.
Your perception and awareness of crime has changed, probably because of media consumption. Crime is historically low.
According to this article, violent crime has decreased but property crime and vehicle theft have risen. Statistics aside though, i’m saying this based on experience.

Not trying to be dumb but can you put something like an AirTag inside the tire? Stuck or mounted of course and accounted for in the balancing. Price of wheels these days may be worth them making something like this. Part of your tpms or something.
Would probably also need to be installed and balanced, held in place to not pop out, but also replaced intermittently. TPMS batteries last longer.
Also I have a few airtags, their batterys only last about 6 months at that, you’d need to do that whole thing every few months to replace the batterys as well.

This happened to me in Santa Clara, CA on the second floor of my parking garage behind a security gate. 2 fit dudes hoisted up the outside wall and took the wheels out of a stairwell.
It cost GEICO $15K because the milk creates collapsed and the car sat on the exhaust, rotors and body panels. I didn’t have my M2C back for 8 weeks because parts got stuck in the Suez Canal in that huge cargo ship debacle in early Pandemic 🙄
I have locks on my latest car now. I know they can be defeated but they’re too inexpensive not to just have them as a deterrent.
