I am seeing a lot of negative articles on EV’s lately. They are using the slowdown in EV sales as a result of people abandoning EV’s. Yet I believe the slowdown is from high interest rates, inflation on everything, and people don’t have as much money right now because of inflation.
I just seen an article saying the true cost of running an EV is the equivalent of $17.33 a gallon, based on infrastructure, charging equipment, subsidies, etc. This kind of talk makes me sick, feels like some are pushing against EV’s in a big way, twisting the truth.
Coming from true EV owners what do you all think of this?
This is actually happening. One of the article posted :https://www.thestreet.com/electric-vehicles/electric-vehicle-tesla-adoption-curve-cost
is based on a report by the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF):In 2015, TPPF had total revenue of $10.8 million. Donors to the organization include energy companies Chevron, ExxonMobil, and other fossil fuel interests.https://www.texasobserver.org/revealed-the-corporations-and-billionaires-that-fund-the-texas-public-policy-foundation/
So, the attempt to slow down EV adoption is real.
What makes it worse is that it feed off the old ICE car mindset, rampant among a lot of “car enthusiasts”.
From my observation, this push back comes from how they initially build their car identity around speed, which EV now obviously won. Then they shift it towards “the feeling” of roaring engine, mufflers, vibration bla bla bla, which sounds reasonable, but irrelevant in the grand scheme of Cars.
From my point of view its just coming from the amount of investments they have made to ICE and that is currently under a serious threat. And they take that threat to ICE as a personal threat.
