About 2 months ago my ball joint separated from my 2007 Acura TL Type S while driving. I eventually got it fixed by a mechanic who is contracted to fix military vehicles and also does some other auto mechanic work on the side, but noticed there was still a creaking sound while turning at low speeds, and when driving car would sometimes jerk itself in one direction. I took into Firestone, mostly because it was really close to me and they said the ball joint, control arm , and CV Axle needed to be replaced. I said it already got replaced and they said the cv axle still has a lot of play and is pretty greasy. Are they scamming me? I was desperate to get it fix because I wanted to drive to my parents house for Thanksgiving.

A friend was a long time service adviser for Firestone. He quit due to unqualified mechanics and the pressure to upsell.
