I bought a 2012 jeep wrangler in 2021 (my first mistake). It has needed multiple repairs and for the car itself and with repairs I’ve spent about $35,000. Now it would sell for $16,000 judging by similar jeeps. I haven’t taken it to the mechanic yet, but have reason to believe I’m going to have to replace the engine. Do I spend the thousands of dollars to replace the engine and keep it? Or should I sell it after I fix it? Is putting a new engine in it almost like having it new?
but have reason to believe I’m going to have to replace the engine
Why?
Don’t throw good money after bad.

dang, that’s a tough situation. sounds like that jeep has been nothing but trouble. if it were me, i’d sell it after fixing it and cut my losses. putting in a new engine doesn’t guarantee it’ll be problem-free. better to move on to something more reliable.

Jesus christ. On a 2012? How many fucking miles does that thing have on it?
I definitely vote for a sell but definitely get a full assessment of what needs to be fixed on it

Get a different mechanic
That’s the only right answer so far.
