So in 7 years they’ll produce a week or two’s worth of production. Exciting. They should hit full scale by 2130.

Toyota SSBs press seems more designed around inducing an Osborne effect to limit current BEV demand to support hybrid sales.

Toyota’s revenue is up 24% year on year.

And with the EV transition still struggling at the moment with high prices it’s likely that hybrid cars will be popular for at least the next two decades.

Meanwhile, CATL: in 2030, we’ll make enough structural batteries with over 500 Wh/kg density to power every new car, truck, boat and plane on the planet.

Toyota lied about solid state batteries for 2 decades now. Why would anyone believe them at this point? Except those paid to pretend they do, ofc?

toyota’s track record with ICE & hybrid vehicles is solid, but they’ve got a lot to learn about EVs. it’s gonna be a bumpy ride before they catch up.

My favorite part is that they still don’t intend on actually having much of anything till 2027. Whereas legitimately everyone has something already today. Toyota is going to be in trouble I think, especially considering the likes of Hyundai and Kia immediately making their new EVs 800v out the door, they are already on a much better path

Only time will tell I guess!

Toyota has been dangling this out there for as long as I can remember being into EV’s. When 2030 comes it will be oh we will be producing them in 2040 actually. You need to take whatever Toyota says with a grain of salt. They have really fallen behind in this space. They sat idol on their hybrid throne while other companies passed them by.
