Hello!

I’m planning to drive a Volkswagen ID3 for 670km in Sweden (Stockholm to Åre) in late December, where it is common to drop under -10 degrees.

The car has been used for 40 000km already.

The longest stop between chargers is 210km.

On paper this should be fine, but considering that the battery performes worse in the cold, should I be worried?

I have been given the option to upgrade to a Tesla Model 3 or even a KIA EV6 for an extra €200, would it be worth it or is the ID3 enough?

I would recommend the upgrade to the EV6.

You might be able to make it in the id3, but I don’t think you will make the speed limits and have the heater on all the time.

I have driven the Q4 with 77kw battery and I could barely hit 300km range driving motorway during winter. I have flat rate charging, so charging cost isn’t a concern I drive the speed limit 110/130km/h… and that really consumes a lot of energy compared to 80km/h on a highway.
