I want to ask the hardcore Porsche guys here a question:

Porsche and 911 in particular are considered the pinnacle of automotive engineering excellence. But is there something you miss from other cars you have owned or driven? Is there a car brand that does something a little better? For e.g. steering feel of a Lotus or transmission shifts of a Ferrari or something like that?

I will leave out the obvious: I know Porsche is not known for luxury of a Rolls Royce/Bentley… So :)

I love Porsches, it’s my brand and always has been but I feel like 911s, even GT cars lack the sense of occasion that a Ferrari or McLaren has. Every drive in a Ferrari feels special, I don’t get that with Porsches. Don’t get me wrong, driving my 911 always puts a smile on my face, love that car. Might be down to familiarity, the every day utility, or the fact that there are so many 911s.

This is the only one I agree with. Had a 570s and maybe it’s the hydraulic steering but also the sound is loud and violent, right behind you and the car sacrifices everything for speed and handling, not really any creature comforts, it’s aggressive and amazing. That’s part of the thing with new 911s they can do it all be a tame cruiser but then when you want dial it up. I imagine the old school Carreras, turbos or GT models would have been super violent but I’ve never been in one

Oh, no doubt. The CGT, 918, and 959 are amazing cars. But those are the exceptions that prove the rule, those are million dollar cars!
