Hello. Changed the alternator on my 4runner. I probably drove it with a bad alternator for about 3 weeks, probably a good thousand miles because I work out of town. I risked it hard. And I didn’t have the time, not even for a shop.(I work 7-7pm.)

I finally changed it. And it’s all good. Just needed a little jump start.

I ride around. She’s roaring. Before she struggled to get over 2000RPMs. I get home to pickup the old alternator to return to autozone. Turn the key and the 4Runner clicks.

Maybe the battery spent too much time with a bad alternator? I really hope I didn’t get a bad te remanufactured alternator.

The battery is some 1 year warranty from Walmart. The poles are pretty gunky. I’ll try cleaning them and see if it helps.

Any other tips or suggestions?

So why did you replace the alternator in the first place? Sounds like your battery has been the problem the whole time. If your alternator was the issue you wouldn’t be able to keep driving after a jumpstart. Definitely wouldn’t have made it 3 weeks of jump starting to get it going everyday unless you charged the battery constantly.
