Purchased my first Toyota today. Wanted a 2024 Prius but they’re near impossible to come by where I’m at, and dealers are marking them up like crazy. Ended up with a 2024 RAV 4 Hybrid LE.

Stated MSRP for the model was nearly $32K, with dealer add ons and markups, the asking price was $39K. After taxes, fees, etc, the out the door price was over $48K.

We negotiated down to $39K, then afterwards I offered a trade for my 2016 Chevy Cruze and left with an out the door price of $35K.

Was this a good deal? I’m not as excited about this purchase as I thought I would be because I have no reference for if I got ripped off or not. It’s only my second ever car purchase and the first car was a grand total of $20K, so the much higher price tag stings a little.

The worst part is you only got $4k for your Cruze, depending on mileage you probably could have sold it for $10-12k.
