Hello ,
Wanted to get communities thought on this -
I am being charged 1096 to replace both front and back Brake pad set and front and rear brake rotor. Its a 2015 dodge charger sxt.
Is that a fair price or am i being ripped off ? I do live in a expensive city.
Seems fair
Seems fair.
It’s a fair price for not doing it yourself. That being said, yes, you’re being ripped off. I bet you have 3 hours free on the weekend… but NOOOO…you have to go and get a mechanic to do it …LOL
Probably $300 in parts.
3 hours free, but no where to do them. That was the 1st half of my 20s. Doing them in an apartment complex parking lot was risking eviction for lease violation. Doing that work on the side of the road could risk tickets and the like. There are plenty of reasons one may not have the capacity to do something as time consuming as a brake job. I can do my entire vehicle in about 45 mins in my driveway. Someone new to wrenching could easily spend those 3 hours on a single corner, especially if ill-equipped for rust belt misery.
For mopar parts, yes
For brake best and duralast, no
Ill budget rotors, but always oem pads
Sweet Jesus. Doing my pads and rotors on my '12 Impreza (much smaller and less of a performance car certainly). Parts from rockauto.
<$100
I padslapped my wife’s Ford Edge with OEM Motorcraft pads for $62 from Rockauto. I’ll spend $200 on Porterfield racing pads, and $100 on Porterfield street pads, but spending $1000+ on crappy aftermarket brakes seems crazy to me.
Go to rock auto and price out the parts.
Then see if the difference is worth it for you labour wise.
