I have a mercedes c200 2011, and has given me many issues, hopefully this is the last problem I’ll have on my hands. My dpf is blocked, and my car is in limp mode, And while I was thinking at first of cleaning it by the pressure sensor or 02, with dpf cleaner, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to try something new. I recently replaced my egr, as my actuator unit broke. And now my dpf is causing issues. How bout I just remove them completely… Is it worth doing an egr delete, and dpf. Or should I just remap and leave those? It’s risky, but I have a mechanic who said he can guarantee nct/mot pass. In my preference I’d rather try to minimise any modifications, but If its a big difference in hp, then I’d gladly do it. I have 136hp. Remaps go around 186hp. But if the egr/dpf isn’t removed. What would that leave me with?
I don’t know how strict the emissions control is in your country, but as you said, you’d need someone to take care of the “inspection”. You should consider that if you want to sell the car at some point you may run into problems and if you do not tell the next owner of your work it might lead to fraud accusations.
As a general rule of thumb, the newer the car, the more reliant it is on the equipped emission systems to pass emissions testing.
Also, if you plan to do it, don’t drill or destroy the DPF, they are still very expensive even if clogged. Let someone “qualified” cut out the DPF and weld in a pipe. If you run into problems later on with Inspection/Sale of the car, you can send it somewhere to get it cleaned professionally and put it back into the car. Sure, that all might be more expensive, but trust me it’s worth it.
Generally this procedure should not damage the engine IF THE REMAP IS OF GOOD QUALITY AND YOU DO NOT TRY TO SQUEEZE EVERY LAST BIT OF POWER OUT OF THE ENGINE!
The 186hp isn’t the max for this engine, I’ve seen remaps going to 200hp, i only needed what a mercedes of that year lacks… and that is power. I’m not planning to do a dpf delete, but remap. But if I do a remap and the only hp I’ll gain is 20, without the dpf/egr delete, then its pointless for a remap…
Okay, then I didn’t understand your post. You clearly wrote, that your DPF is causing you problems and while you’re at it you’d go for a remap. And now the only thing that concerns you is that you want more power?
I think almost every qualified tuner (on a dyno) is able to produce around 180hp with the C200 CDI engine (with or without, doesn’t matter, will only result in more or less stress on the engine components).
I think you should at first decide for yourself, whether you want a repaired or Dpf deleted running car or a tuned maybe not running car.
