I trust my mechanic, but, might as well ask strangers on the internet for their opinion too. :)

2013 Hyundai Genesis 3.8L V6 - 185k miles - check engine light came on, a little overdue for an oil change. Took it in, said it was over 4 quarts low, dry dipstick, found metal bits in the filter (see pic). Diagnosis: severe engine damage.

There was no evidence of a leak on my driveway, I guess it was burning oil off, leaking some other way?

Anything I can do here other than sell it to a junk yard? Their quote for engine replacement is probably 3x what it’s worth. What’s the worst case scenario if I just keep oil in it and drive it locally to the store and back?

    It’s a 2013, consider it “I got my money’s worth” and move on. If you still owe money on it, sorry, the car probably is not worth replacing the engine in it. this is whats called a “Mechanical Total Loss”
