I deleted the post here, but this post really angered people: https://old.reddit.com/r/askcarguys/comments/17w1pur/what_happens_if_i_choose_not_to_pick_my_car_up/
I wasn’t going to leave the truck with the mechanic. I was mad that I approved work I couldn’t afford. I’ll be picking it up this afternoon. However, I cannot keep dumping money into this car. I don’t need to know how shitty anything but Hondas and Toyotas are. This was what I could afford. The newest Honda/Toyota near me for the price I paid was early 90s.
I’ve replaced a shit ton of stuff, but the transmission on these things are apparently shitty. I just need advice.
Stuff I’ve replaced:
-Fuel pump
-Water pump
-Brake lines
-Spider injectors (x2)
-Spark plugs
-Fuel pressure regulator
-Filler neck
-Purge solenoid
-Temperature sensor regulator
-Door pins
-Alternator
You are not alone. Many of us have been in the same situation. It is a tough call when it comes to keep or sell. You do your best with the data you have. There was a time in the past when the Japanese automakers led the world in quality. Toyota in particular was focused on market share and spent billions to become the sales leader. That is my opinion. Should you sell or fix? Do a plus minus set of columns.
