I was told the opposite. Avoid European cars if I don’t want to spend a lot on repairs, lol. Currently looking for a car to buy and will probably get a JDM.
I have own Mercedes Benz and Miata’s all my life. I’ve done the same repairs on my Miata and glk350 at about the same price. The only difference is my glk takes $20 more in oil changes and uses a bit more fuel. I’ve had more electrical issues with my Miata than with my glk. Reliability comes with good maintenance, except bmw and Audis, those are just bad.

Is the cost of parts the same? Maintenance should be a non-factor since it should be done with any car.
