Hi everyone.

So I just purchased my first EV, namely an EQB300 coming from a BMW320d, and I am really struggling with the range on the Mercedes, I primarily use it on roads with speed limits of, 50/80/90kph. My last full battery charge got me roughly 230km. With the outside temperatures of somewhere between 7 - 10 degrees Celsius. With a few days of rain.

I very rarely use the brakes to regenerate as mush as possible and I don’t have a heavy foot, and I turn off the AC everytime I drive, and only use the heated seats

I would like to hear other owners experience with the range, because I really don’t find the low range usable, if this is a general problem with the model then I might swap it for something else.

Also am I just unlucky to have had a bad customer service at Mercedes dealerships, compared to BMW, I actually felt ignored when I had questions and I was at two different dealership with the same experience, I never had any experience like this with BMW.

Is the poor range to be expected?

seems to me you drive a lot of short trips on a normal day? then this is absolutely normal. the mercedes thermal system heats the battery every trip to get good performance, this alone easily eats 2kwh or more. in summer, if you drive 10km, thats roughly 2kwh, so you see the overall consumption double if you only do trips like that and let the battery cool down inbetween. long trips, different story: my eqb fully loaded in winter temps around 0 centigrade has a consumption around 2-2.1 kwh per 10km on trips >500km, total expected range just above 300km. this is with studded tyres and 70-80km/h speed, up and down over norwegian mountain passes.

Just getting to and from work, I drive 84 km per day, and then I have all my other rutines on top of that.

Currently my last 80- 10% is as low as 180km. And I’m almost afraid to accelerate, and it has only just started being below 5c here in the most western part of Denmark, which is also the flattest part of the country, so based on your experience, even with studded tires, it confirms my suspicions.

Driving home from work at night the other day at 0c 42km, cost me the 42km range + 100km on top off that, this tells me there must be something off in the calculations the computer makes, because it is giving me numbers as low as 20kwh/100km. And that math doesn’t add up to me.

Yesterday I got a letter from Mercedes, saying I need to visit a garage to get a software update, I hope this will solve some of the issues, otherwise it can’t be anything but the batteries.
