Hello! I live in NYC and I’m looking for tactics to keep mice and rats out of my hood during the winter time. They got in and nested in May and it cost a pretty penny to fix so I’m open to all suggestions. Thank you in advance!!

I live rural and park outside next to a field. It’s been seven years since the last nest and droppings. That’s when I started using Fluid Film. They don’t seem to like it on their paws and fur.

    Peppermint spray.

    Moth balls.

High voltage Electric mice electroshock machine

    Wooden mouse traps

    Mice sticky pads.

    Mice poison.

I’ve already tried moth balls. I assure you, mice don’t care. They built a nest right next to a pile of moth balls I left in the trunk of my car.

Load up on tree air fresheners. Scent doesn’t matter. The idea is to make it so overpowering that they can’t smell predators. If they are always in danger, they won’t stick around.

Impossible, they need a warm engine to sleep. just open the hood twice a week and inspect it carefully

I use original scented bounce sheets when I store my vintage car and never had any mice issues. I place about 20 of them in strategic spots in the engine bay, passenger compartment and trunk.

We just leave our hood open. They like closed spaces. But I live in the middle of nowhere so nobody is going to steal my battery
