I bought a new BMW last year (530e). Even though the car (and the app) says nothing is wrong and I don’t need a service until like 2025, I tried to schedule a service this December anyway just to make sure I have regular maintenance records.
I scheduled it at the same dealer that I bought it from (so an authorized dealer). They cancelled my appointment without confirming with me, as they said, and I quote “they see absolutely nothing wrong with the car”.
I don’t have a lot of experience with cars. I previously sold a car I bought for my wife which was a second hand car. The car was missing its first year of maintenance record (presumably for the same reason), and I noted some buyers were turned away due to this. This is the main reason I would like to maintain an annual service record.
I am in London.
So what is the etiquette here? Should I insist on a service anyway? Would it affect the resale-ability of the car if I didn’t service it this year?
Take it BM Connected in Braintree and they will a) tell you the best thing to do and b) do it better and cheaper than BMW.
