Isn’t this cheap for a 250 GTO?
$50 million had been the going rate for many years now and $70 million was hit a while ago.
The $70m car was a 1 of 1 with racing pedigree.
The last “normal” gto sold for $48m in 2018, which means the gto’s are actually depreciating if this one sold for $51m
It’s not a 250 GTO. It’s a 330 LM that later had a GTO motor fitted. It is not one of the original 36 ‘true’ 250 GTOs.
So yes, it is cheap for a 250 GTO, because it kind of isn’t one
Dang, I was wondering why it went so “low”, I thought it was going for over $100mm easily. It was getting hyped up like crazy, had its own auction, was getting posted about constantly, nicknamed “The One”. Apparently I missed the fact that it’s an engine swap, or they didn’t report it as heavily as all the other attention grabbing stuff lol Explains the unexpected result, I suppose

No car is worth that, it’s the marketplace doing that, what some rich person who can afford it , granted it’s a nice car but geeze, that money could help a lot of people who are struggling.

I feel so fortunate that I got to see six of these things running around Laguna Seca one year. I remember being behind the wall at the exit of turn 2 and hearing and seeing these things roar around the corner. Was very cool.
Saw one of these in Èze (between Nice and Monaco) being loaded into a truck. Yelled out to the group I was with to turn around and look, no one else cared lol easily one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.

better plan would be build cash flowing assets (ie businesses) and use the cashflow to help people. would do much more good in the long term.
To be fair, of one kind of car was worth 50, it’s probably this thing.

To be fair, the Ferrari 240 is the best example of the value being in “go buy another one”. Well you can’t, doesn’t matter how much money you have, they simply don’t go up for sale that often.

I live close to Sotheby’s in NYC where it was sold. It has been in their lobby for a few weeks it was stunning to see in person . It also went far below their estimate of $60m
