Being a fan of Maserati is like being a fan of the (current, I suppose) Ferrari F1 Team. The failures are miserable, but when they get it right, it’s the sweetest thing.
A used QP would probably make a fine DD for someone who knew what they were getting into and want something different than the average Bimmer or Merc. I can’t imagine any reason to buy a Ghibli over an Alfa Giulia. Especially the Quad, which is better than the QP even. The MC20 is the only one that could have some sense being bought brand new if you wanted a specific look and wanted an Italian sportscar that wasn’t a Ferrari or Lambo. Maserati is a weird brand. It can be fun to kick while it’s down, and they’re priced too high for their build quality and equipment levels, but they are a little different. But dumb people buy them for clout, and it’s helped sour the brand.
Yes, and?
I got to drive an older Quatroporte GTS 4.7L V8. 34,000km on it, puking every single fluid. But my god was it absolutely magical to drive. I’ve never driven a Ferrari, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some Ferrari engineers helped out.
Aren’t those like stupidly slow vs their competition and for their price? Or was that the older models?
Saw One of these on fb marketplace for under 20k
After all these years, they never got rid of the JC Whitney fender vents.
Maserati is the only car you make more reliable by adding Ferrari parts.
no bentley or aston martin? i thought both of them would be flirting with the worst depreciation not opnly in dollars but percentage. i think they must not be included? (jaguar is there… so?)
That’s because, as pretty as Maseratis are, they are shit cars, need constant attention and maintenance. Yet they don’t have the cache or exclusivity that ferrari or lambo have. They might as well be pretty (and cheap) paper weights
The thought has entered my mind a time or two
Still want one, with the crap Mercedes and BMW are pulling its easily the beat looking of the bunch and since it’s old you can still get it with a nice V8.
But not unless I have lottery money.
Can we talk about how awful it is to want an Aston Martin…
I dunno, those BMW i8’s go pretty cheap.
Been creeping Audi RS7’s as of late, they are dirt cheap for how much they went for.
It’s no secret all flagship luxury models depreciate like a rock. They are overcomplicated, over optioned, and way to expensive to maintain.
