Aotearoa New Zealand’s favourite election is back, and the stakes are higher than ever before. This year marks a whole century of Forest & Bird speaking up for nature.
Join us in celebrating our 100th birthday by sharing the love for our fantastic feathered friends. But vote carefully… this year the winner is not just Bird of the Year, but Bird of the Century!
Which New Zealand native bird from the last 100 years has captured your heart?
I like how you think! I already voted fairy tern as my top!
I’m also partial to the South Island Kōkako, which is probably extinct but occasionally gets unconfirmed sightings. Maybe it’s just hiding from us.
Good idea it had if it is.
Bowhead whales in the arctic hide from humans, it’s thought it’s because they live about 200 years so they still remember whaling.
Bird of the Year is really stacked with extinct birds this year. Laughing owl, cute little wrens.
Some hard choices. It’s a really clever campaign because it reminds us of how many cool birds we have.
