Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Back home after a 10h drive from Dunedin. On the plus side, we discovered that our car can drive itself (to a point) which made the cruise up the Canterbury side a lot easier!

Not much today. Just had some noodles with freshly harvested kale, from my backyard - of which I now have a practically infinite supply. In addition to 1 mandarin tree, 1 lemon tree, 1 feijoa tree, 1 plum tree and 2 avocado trees (albeit small in size at the moment).

I’m going hard on the homesteading lifestyle, to the point where I could theoretically even produce my own prescription medications, if it came down to it. Simply reading about it brings me so much peace of mind. That, and slowly growing my TradeMe store.

Wouldn’t call myself a prepper. More of an economic survivalist - because to me, we’re already in the apocalypse. 😉

Does anyone here play the piano? My daughter is starting lessons this term so have been going down the rabbit hole of reviews to see what is the best to get for her to practise at home. I’m probably also going to try and learn it as well. Doesn’t look like many sales on them and no one near by selling good second hand ones.

Funnily enough, we used to have a piano. We ended up taking it to the tip because we absolutely could not give the thing away, nobody wanted it.

My advice would be an electric keyboard with weighted keys, they feel pretty damn close to the real thing, and are a much more versatile instrument.

Yeah digital piano or keyboard is the plan, don’t have space for an upright or the means to move one. I’ve seen a few people giving away old uprights but it’s just not worth it for us, plus it’ll need tuning and maintenance.

I do really want a full 88 key with weighted keys, but the price is a bit too much for now. Not sure what to compromise on at the moment.

Went to a birthday party, it was good. Unfortunately now I’m listening to hoons in the night.
