Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

I spent 2 hours playing Dishonored 2 last night, after a particularly early bedtime.

I think it’s probably been years since I’ve done that much playing in one session! It has taken me over a year of playing to get to where I am (should be on the last mission now I think) and I’m not a completionist, just doing the main storyline.

I’ve definitely got used to shorter gaming sessions in recent years… but I still get time sometimes for at least a couple of hours, sometimes more. Some games can be pretty frustrating if you don’t get a decent stretch to focus on them.

I don’t play frustrating games, and have no issues using wikis. And I’m not shy on decreasing the difficulty, especially if you can’t save whenever you like.

I just don’t have the time for grinding or repeating the same parts. Also I suck, so if it isn’t fun for people who suck then I won’t play it.

How dare you not play games you don’t enjoy! 😀

Yeah, I wasn’t really talking about grindy games, but games you need to spend a bit of time on to learn all the mechanics and build things up the way you want them (I mostly play management/simulation games). If you have to keep stopping every 15 mins, it can be a bit frustrating if you’re just getting into it.

I’ve recently realised I don’t want to play high stress games. I bought Deep Rock Galactic, but find it way too stressful, even on single player, low difficulty. My work is challenging enough, I don’t need that kind of stress during down time!

The most recent sim-like game I played is Oxygen Not Included, and I played a few games but quit when I got to the mid game. I just don’t have the time (or drive) to do that level of trial an error anymore.

I remember playing Myst and Riven when I was young, I can’t imagine doing something like that these days.

. I bought Deep Rock Galactic, but find it way too stressful, even on single player, low difficulty.

I just looked it up and got flashbacks of Stargate replicators or Halo’s Flood. I’m definitely too old for that stress.

We had a decent start to spring, but we’ve definitely headed to shitsville this week (in Wellington anyway).

Yeah, same in Akl. Been bloody windy and wet. Temps have come down a little as well.

I’d just planted some vege seedlings, so hopefully they don’t suffer too much haha
