When I use signal on my phone it works ok. But, occasionally I need to use it on my PC. Basically every time I start it on pc, it requires updating and repairing with my phone.
As a result, I do not have access to the history of my chats.
For me, this makes signal unusable.
What do I do wrong?
The standard signal desktop client needs to connect every 30 days, or it will rotate through its keys needing to be reconnected.
Molly for Android, will allow you to run multiple signal instances on multiples Android devices, that might be an option.
You could use a beeper extension, to access signal through matrix on your computer.
If you just need to be able to pass messages between your computer and phone, you could use session, but I don’t know your use case
What is “session”?

It’s a fork of signal, that doesn’t require a phone numbers, and uses a onion network to send messages. It’s not as secure as signal, but it’s easy as a copy paste buffer between your phone and your computer, if that’s your use case
Thanks. So, it is basically another messenger not compatible with signal.
Correct. That’s why in my original post, I said depending on your use case, if you just need to pass messages between your phone and your computer, it could be sufficient for you.
Have the Signal desktop client to autostart on login. That will dramatically decrease the probability to stay so long offline that it’ll need repairing. My laptop’s client which I turn one a couple of times a week hasn’t asked me to repair in at least a year.
Yes, this will work. Another solution is: use a messenger which does not have such issues.
I just leave Signal running on my computer, but that may not be an option for you if you use a shared computer.
Yes, but i do not want to keep it running on all computers just because otherwise it fails.
I’m not sure what you mean by that - I keep it running on multiple computers without any issues at all.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
