The entire process of adopting OOXML was corrupted beyond any imagination.

People straight up being paid in cash to vote in favour of it.

Lies or very vague information about deadlines being sent.

Any issues brought up by experts being ignored simply by Microsoft representatives saying ‘We do not agree’.

Someone else could probably easily keep this list going for a couple dozen more entries. I’m way too young to remember this well.

You can fight this by just using ODF at work and at home.

Getting people used to opening the documents (in whatever), puts them near par and makes it easier to transition.

OOXML is trash and should not have gained traction. The entire process was gamed without much obfuscation.

That’s the one that mostly boil down to “Do things like Word” with a lot of empty text to avoid details?

It’s just a container for other file formats in some cases. A .docx file might as well say “this is a .doc file” inside of it.

Quote straight from “Pirates of Silicon Valley”

Steve Jobs: We’re better than you are! We have better stuff.

Bill Gates: You don’t get it, Steve. That doesn’t matter!
