i’m on vacation rn and don’t have my regular conditioner (got thrown away by security smh), so i grabbed a bottle at a supermarket only to notice in the shower that this conditioner contains silicone. “surely it can’t make that much of a difference!”, i thought, and sure enough my hair looked pretty normal… until it dried:

that said, my hair has finally reached the length where it properly catches the wind and gets pulled back and let me just say it feels absolutely glorious

Most conditioners are basically just a means to coat your hair in silicone. If your conditioner shows dimethicone as an ingredient, that is silicone.
yeah i know (that’s what i saw in the shower), i just spent so long in the store trying to figure out all the other stuff i needed that i forgot to check the ingredients on the conditioner until it was too late ಠ_ಠ
Started bringing my own conditioner when visiting parents or in-laws for this very reason!

My hair would always do this before I started straightening it and I never checked if it was the conditioner causing it. Hmm
i recommend looking into the Curly Girl Method if you haven’t already - it’s truly the only thing keeping the frizz down
Damn, I pretty much always use strong hair mousse for similar reasons, though I’ve been using better conditioner since so maybe I should see how it looks naturally again.

Once, when I couldn’t find my leave in conditioner I decided to use the kids detangler spray and just comb that through instead. Epic fro.
