A few days ago I saw someone on a bicycle yell at a slow moped, “get out of the fucking bike lane with your motorcycle”, and then rip past the moped at like 60 km/h. It was the most Toronto thing ever.
To be fair, bike lanes are not for motor vehicles.
It is extremely rude to force bicyclists to lose all their momentum when they only need like 2 feet of space to pass.
Thats a really funny analysis, and my head cannon is now that you were on the bicycle.
I also think its linguistically funny to consider there a difference from a bicycle with motor, and a motorcycle (motorized-bicycle).
they need to be required to have a license and gasp TPS actually needs to enforce it.
if people driving Tesla’s and other EV cars must have a drivers license then so should users of e-bikes. they must also have insurance and since insurance companies simply won’t cover them then womp womp you just got someone else to solve the problem for you. After that it’s up to TPS to actually enforce the law which we all know won’t happen. These dudes are an absolute menace on the street. There’s one guy, daily, who has one of the unicycle ones that goes up and down front street, up and down stairs, and weaving in and out of traffic and and pedestrians just showing off. I’m waiting for the day someone punches him in the throat.
TSP doesn’t enforce any behavior with licensed car drivers. It’s now typical to race on the shoulder of a highway, no one will stop you.
And there already are the laws TPS needs to crack down on illegal ebikes. Should they want to go against Skip and Uber Eats. 😄
Just because you prefer to be miserable sitting in traffic, doesn’t mean everyone else should have to too.
An ebike over 30kmhr will kill any pedestrian. take the fucking TTC if you are impatient.
Cars are less than 10% likely to cause severe injury at those speeds, ebikes have a 20th of the mass of a car.
Its not the mass of the vehicle, its the pedestrian getting knocked down and banging their head on the pavement or curb edge that makes bike collisions as deadly.
There’s a difference between avoiding traffic by using another form of transportation and avoiding traffic by being reckless. The latter is no better than the assholes who speed around traffic on the shoulder and try to sneak into the front of the line, and even if EVERYONE were on scooters, the other scooter drivers would hate the reckless ones too.
I live in a place where absolutely everybody rides scooters, nobody cares about people using the shoulders to get around traffic, it only seems reckless if you’re so car-brained you think everybody should be lowered to your level. Here drivers internationally leave room for us to filter by at stoplights, if they don’t they’re likely to get their car banged up.
What people do have problems with is speeding in narrow allyways, you know behavior that represents danger to more than just car-brained driver’s feelings.
Even the animals ride scooters

Kinda sounds like only animals ride the scooters if thats how they drive, especially if they’re so dangerous to bang up cars
