New Hampshire Democratic Rep. Jonah Orion Wheeler is again drawing attention for his views on transgender issues after calling “gender ideology” an “illiberal, backwards way of thinking” in a new video. The remarks follow Wheeler’s previous support for legislation restricting transgender rights, adding another chapter to a record that has repeatedly put him at odds with LGBTQ+ advocates and fellow Democrats.

Gender ideology is giving people care and community. To be a gender ideologue is to be human.

I just don’t understand why they care. It’s such a non-issue. We got people starving homeless people in the richest nation of the world and they’re worried about gender?! Why not focus on making the lives of your constituents better instead of focusing on something that in no way has any effect on your life whatsoever? It will never make sense to me.

Just saw a clip on Meidastouch - it was from Faux, and some Republican was saying how they were talking to a voter and that voter was telling them being (anti) trans was their #1 issue.

I mean…WTAF. I get it being high on your list if you are trans or someone close to you is. But some jagoff that has no skin in the game is making being anti-trans their #1 thing?

So I guess clean air, clean water, safe streets, healthcare for all, a living wage or better at a job with dignity, improving education, having rights upheld, no endless foreign wars, addressing energy issues and climate change…that all takes a backseat to wringing your hands over…“men in women’s sports”.

It’s easy. It’s all because it’s disgusting to them. In their worldview bad things happen to bad people, so if you’re poor or homeless, you’re a bad person. And that’s revolting, so poor people suffering is good actually.

Women are also disgusting. They need to remain at their station. That’s why they hate LGBTQ+ people, we don’t conform to their ideas.

Lesbians and trans-men are disgusting because they were lesser and claim to be more. Trans-women and gay dudes are the reverse of that; we’re debasing ourselves by being lesser.

It’s all about social hierarchy and domination, people needing to remain in their spot, happy with their lot.

Religion and the mindset it fosters is evil, because it causes even regular, caring people to do and excuse the most heinous things, thinking that it’s good.

Mother Teresa is a great example, a literal saint, yet a horrible woman who deliberately made people suffer because she believed that suffering to be holy. To be Good.

This is the answer. Capitalism and its brother fascism also require violence and exploitation to maintain these hierarchies because they go against the actual human tendencies toward freedom, equality, and community.

Its impressive on a few fronts. Suggesting he’s an ally to the lqbtqia+ community while dirting health care for a vulnerable population of that group. Managing to infantilize women while proposing a completely imagined threat.

There can’t be that many voters who want to go blue but are hung up needing to bathroom bills too are there?

Probably not, but maybe. People are disenfranchised with the GOP, but brainwashed to the hilt with rage about trans issues. I suspect this guy wants to be palatable to that group of voters.
