This is an article about an article which was written by a dedicated Windows blog. The author adds nothing outside of contextual framing and quoting the original article and a FAQ provided by the source used by the original article.
At least the original article’s author put in some work with graphics and research, this blog post is about the same informational content as ‘news’ articles which are just a recap of a social media argument.

So this whole article is a panic/damage control piece by vested windows interests.
The tldr is that yes bots account for a chunk of the overall increase in usage, and therefore market share, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that more and more machines (virtual or physical) are being driven by Linux.
Not to mention… do they think bots on windows don’t exist?
They exist. But it’s mostly viruses. Every competent script monkey runs their bots on Linux servers, unless it’s someone’s else PC.
While I’m not disagreeing with you, the claim was that Linux reached 10% on Desktop. That is suggesting that 1 in 10 users are using Linux. The bot traffic is largely coming from servers, not desktop users. So this data could just mean not traffic is ramping up and it’s largely Linux servers (unsurprising) and that actual desktop usage barely moved.
tl;dr; M$ is panicking over potential lost marketshare and wants you to come back to daddy instead of standing on your own two feet by giving Linux a chance. M$ promises it won’t hit you again. That was old M$, new M$ will be respectable to you and your data. Don’t leave now.
It’s too late, I’ve already gotten rid of every single Windows device in my house except for an old shitty laptop because My 2015 iMac can’t run the Mac version of the firmware updates for various audio devices.
I keep a gun next to that laptop, just in case.
the data on cloudfare reaches 9.5% for human-generated Linux-based traffic, while it oscillates between that and 4%, from July 28th.
These people are not really bright, I bet they forgot to remove ios and android from cloudfare’s data and are comparing apples to oranges.
But it’s difficult to say when they won’t even write the stats they got from cloudfare
And what exactly is is the real number according to Cloudflare? They’re hinting at it all the time but never telling the actual number?! Is it 9%, 2%? What kind of article is this? Isn’t the one job of journalism to tell us what reality is? But they deliberately(?) omit this one thing?

In their post they have the cloudflare charts, but even when filtered to only likely-human traffic, it shows the opposite of their conclusion, a close to 10% linux share.

Bots are probably the single party with highest interest in spoofing their user agent
When you are a Russian troll trying to convince everyone you are a Trump supporting Grandmother from Alabama it’s best if your user agent says windows 10 or 11 instead of the reality that it’s a bot running off a linux server.
I’m not a fan of the Russian government, but let’s stick to the facts. The biggest reason why the democrats lost is because they didn’t give most people a reason to care to vote, they didn’t listen to their more popular base on things like healthcare and a certain genocide as that could push away their corporate donors, and they promised continuity with an impopular administration that had the bad luck of governing during most of the economic hardship of the pandemic. Still, they could have done a decent campaign and ran on more popular policy.
Obviously powerful countries do try to influence elections to a degree, but the idea that Trump only won because of Russian interference has been disproven already.
Let’s stick to reality tho…neither did Republicans. Troll farms did, and people bought it hook, line, and sinker.
No it hasn’t been disproven. Trump needed every bit of help he got to win. The disinformation campaigns from Russia and the tech billionaires were key to Trump winning in 2024. In fact the last batch of shit Trump released trying to show the 2020 election was stolen showed that Russia was trying to help him get elected.
Trump’s numbers were more or less constant for the last two election cycles, but look at the difference in voters between Biden and Harris in the same two elections.
Yeah and without the disinformation campaigns from the tech ceos money (mostly Musk) and Russia the numbers would have not been like that. Acting like the failures of democrats are the sole reason the election turned out the way it did is ignorant as hell. Many things contributed to the way the past three elections turned out and there is an overwhelming amount of evidence that shows Russia was running disinformation campaigns for Trump.
I didn’t say it was the sole reason, rather that it is measurable and clear as day (look at the difference in the number of voters between the last two US presidential elections). You don’t need foreign actors to explain why democrat voters didn’t bother to show up.
They are not mutually exclusive things but you are treating them as such. Democrats didn’t show up enough AND there were multiple disinformation campaigns going on that not only got Trump more voters but also convinced others not to vote at all.
This is all well documented stuff. You are acting like none of that exists.
Okay? Were the AI bots all launched simultaneously last month? That doesn’t account for the increase.
