Uhh! I have been wanting to try snaps for a very long time now! And today my nurge snaps finally arrived!
I’m so excited to try them out, but all my projects have been started in hand, so due to tension I don’t want to snap them up now…
So I have to have a new start, but it suddenly seems scary to start my planed 300x300 convert of an image 😅
Because of your enthusiasm about snaps, I feel I should tell you: my kid is young enough that they haven’t figured out how to snap their fingers, but they do want to.
Instead of using the potential energy of bracing their middle finger against their thumb and then letting it become kinetic energy until it impacts the heel of their hand, they just tap their index finger against their thumb and, if challenged, say “well, that’s the way I want to do it.”
It’s very cute. I’m aware this wasn’t the point of your post but it’s the first thing I thought when I saw the title and I wanted to share.
edit: Despite my nonsequitur, I am very glad you got a new tool / toy!
I was very confused at the start of this comment, but thanks for the cute story! 🤣
My pleasure. Thanks for being understanding about the subject change.
I tried these a while back and couldn’t get used to them. I think it’s because I got the cheapo ones though lol these look way nicer than the ones I got!
If they lost tension easily it might have been the cheep ones.
The brand Q-snap should be really nice, but for reasons that was not a option for me at the moment. So I was so excited when Nurge started to make them.
So far I have only tried the small one, but I mostly like it.
I got the Michael’s off brand Loops and Threads one. All of their in house cross stitch stuff is terrible lol I looked up this Nurge one it looks really good!
I feel like its so often a problem with those big stores, they need to cater to so many different crafts that they only have the cheep stuff. So the only usefull thing they have is DMC.
Which is actually also a problem with my local needle shop… they only carry DMC fabric and I prefer Zweitgart.
I always get DMC for everything I’ve never tried Zweitgart! I’ll have to try it! I’ll probably have to order it online lol
The first ever DMC Aida I got, the squares were taller than they were wide. So I have sworn to zweigart since. But if that haven’t happened to you, then that’s great, but trying new things is also kinda exciting!
The first aida I ever got was Loops and Threads from Michael’s and the fabric was so weak and thin that when I would secure a stitch it would go right through into the next square… Their floss was almost unusable too lol it’s been DMC for everything since then!
I’m amazed you keept up with the hobby after that! I would probably have given up, if that was my first experience
But I also love DMC floss!
