90% of it is just misandrist bait, and its just an echochamber of misandry.

Edit: aw a downvote and no answer? I’m curious, where’s all these misandry communities you speak of?

I won’t defend the OP because he’s surely just an embarrassing attention seeker, but in return I’ll say that you can’t really say that there isn’t misandry out there, especially on the leftist side of Lemmy, just as you can’t say that there isn’t a black swan out there (i.e. the induction problem), and in fact there are a lot of misandric women, and you can’t just rationalize it as a “valid reaction to centuries of oppression” because it’s a genetic fallacy. (where someone is held responsible for something they were not involved in because they were born much later, just because they are a descendant of that group).

the actual essence of the community and the thoughts and ideas are reflected not in your posts but in your ideologies

            lizlemonmegaeyeroll.gif

Very impressive that you can divine the essence of a community, not reflected in posts, just by reading a bunch of posts and making assumptions about them. That’s a neat trick.

Let’s see you bring this energy to any of the multiple shitposting communities that are majority male.

Let women have our spaces. It’s the only community that’s ours. Women are allowed to be upset about how men at large treat us, how they rape and beat us, how men laugh at our genitals, our hobbies, our passions.

We’re allowed to talk about our lives.

Don’t you see? Men are so HURT by the bear thing! You just have to choose the man! Come on da lil bear is so scawwy, how could you possibly choose that?

Do you think it irks them so much because it’s true, and they can’t admit it? It’s like every time they bring it up it proves the point. Insane.

This bear thing is so funny. I’m a man and I’d rather encounter a bear in the woods than a stranger man.
You can learn how to prevent or protect yourself from bear attacks in a 4-hour training.
With a stranger, you have no idea how he’ll react.

Anyone who says this has literally never encountered a bear before

I’ve been charged and nearly killed by a grizzly near Nordegg AB like 10 years ago. Bear spray did nothing.

Hundreds upon hundreds of humans met on the trail and none have tried to kill me.

I worked as a hiking guide in the Chilcotin Mountains for a year, and did a Grizzly population count for a land use report during that time. I literally had more than one bear encounter per week, sometimes 5 in a day.

Nothing bad has ever happened from letting bigotry run rampant on an online space controlled by people who encourages bigotry

Is a wild take in 2026…

Like, I don’t even know if OP is talking about reddit or somewhere here that I’ve had blocked for so long I forgot it exists

But if you really cant see an issue with echochambers of bigotry and how that’s going to wind up, you really should spend more time listening/reading and less time telling people not to worry about shit.

Not like it’s in the top 100 problems, but it’s still a problem. And the good thing about society is not everyone has to be worried about the same shit.

the space itself existing is great, a woman only community.

What are you on about? Do we have to discuss sexism against men when discussing sexism against women every time? I personally dont think so. Sexism can happen to either gender and we can discuss both without touching on the problems of the opposing sex.

This guy is trying to have a discussion on a problem and you shove it aside by completely unjustified assumptions about the poster.

How is it not a real problem if women are being sexist? I am not claiming that all women are, and I am not claiming that every woman in said community is, but there is some form and amount of sexism present and I think this is an issue.

I like it that when someone on the Fediverse post sexist shit against women in the of “women bad” it almost always gets called out, this is great. The same thing should happen on posts about “men bad” (again, I am not claiming it does not happen currently, hard to judge because such posts are seen much less frequent).

What I would have liked to see in this thread is: “hey, there are some people in this community posting sexist shit, this is not okay.”, the same way you would see in a discussion about an incel forum (again, here for clarification, I am not claiming that womensstuff is a femcel forum). What i see tough in this thread is that sexism against men is not called out similarly as sexism against women.

I checked out their feed since I figured I must have missed a big burst of bad content, but I don’t see anything misandrist. I see a few posts critical of certain men, but even that’s the minority of content.

Even going through comments I see only a healthy amount of misandry. I don’t see any organizing of violence against all men, or even normalizing of it.

If you’re feeling triggered by the things you see in a space meant for an oppressed class to vent then I think you’re just too sensitive.

      Louder for the back!

Misandry isn’t the reverse of misogyny. There’s no anti-men power structures being kept in place by women, there isn’t women-dominated governments stripping men of their rights, there’s no systemic violence against men perpetuated by women in power.

There are certainly individuals that hate men, but misandry simply doesn’t exist the same way misogyny does.

      Thank you for your comment.

        You’ve mistaken misogyny/misandry with patriarcy/matriarchy.

Misandry is by definition the hatred of, distrust of, or prejudice against men, as misogyny is the same against women.

To be precise, misandry exists, but it doesn’t have the same societal support that mysogyny does. Both exist, but one has a noticeable effect in the broader world where as the other mostly has effects only in limited spaces where the individual has enough control to override the default power imbalance.

Unless you’re in the intended audience for the community, you should probably block it, so that it’s kept out of your mind
