Would you vote for Labour in a general election (whether Sir Keir or Andy led the party)?
I think a lot of people on Lemmy support the Greens but I very much doubt that the Greens could stop Farage becoming prime minister. Labour are probably the best-placed party to do that.
For now, until the media has relentlessly shat on him for 2 years as they no doubt will.
Heck, I’m a member of the Green Party and I’d vote for Andy Burnham if he was leading Labour in the General Election.
I won’t hold my breath through - New Labour would rather lose everything than let the left regain control of the party.
The answer is I will vote tactically for the least worst party in my constituency likely to keep reform out.
Well that’s probably going to be Labour or the Greens depending on how the next few years pan out. I can’t imagine it’s going to be the LibDems, a lot of people still haven’t forgiven them for the coalition, and of course the Horizon scandal doesn’t help.
Of course there’s always the possibility Reform will simply implode under the weight of their own ineptitude. They have held some of their new councils for about 2 weeks at this point and many of them have already fallen apart.
If I still lived in England I would only vote Labour if they really were the only choice to beat Reform in my constituency. But unless there’s a radical change in the Labour party’s politics it’s going to be nothing but kicking the can down the road.
Starmer is a plant.
Labour could also beat Reform in a general election by implementing some of the policies that are actually in their manifesto. The only reason they need Andy Burnham for this is because Starmer won’t do it, Burnham is extremely competent but that’s it. It’s not as if he’s tapped into some, once in a generation political superpower. He just does the things he says he’ll do.
That’s the state of our politics now. Following through is considered a strategy of political genius.

What would be your preferred rate of immigration? I think it might be sensible to say that if immigration happens too quickly then it could overwhelm services like the police and hospitals, but I don’t think that means immigration needs to be stopped altogether. There are immigrants in roles we depend on (such as doctors), paying taxes, and in some cases starting businesses and creating jobs.
