One of the characters also has pictures framed in his house one of the black panthers (I think Huey Newton) right next to a framed picture of Obama. Lol
There’s a lot to hate about Obama but there is one thing he did establish that Malcolm X would nod grimly at; something that may justify his inclusion on a wall of revolutionaries:
Even if a black man who becomes President rules the country like a moderate Republican and is the absolute exemplar of their Christian values, he won’t be accepted by the majority of white men. Not only that, they will churn themselves into a frenzy of over-reaction. They will elect a new Hitler just to make themselves feel better. They will lose their goddamn minds like rabid animals, like their grandparents who took their kids to see lynchings and get photographed next to the naked, brutalised corpse.
This point could not have been demonstrated if Obama had not done everything to dance to their tune.
It demonstrates the sheer self-destructive, nihilistic racism inherent in the American system. It shows that electoral politics is not going to fix it.
Obama did not mean to do this. Many revolutionary figures do not. And he did not suffer like the others. So it’s still a questionable choice, but perhaps not an indefensible one.
I’d say it was good casting if he legitimately felt sorrow for the crimes he did on behalf of the IDF, and used his platform to speak out on behalf of those currently being genocided. But in the interviews about it he seems to have a casual view on his crimes, and mostly focuses on his own mental health.
Frenchie as a character has deep sorrow for his past actions, but the actor doesn’t seem to.
So in practice it’s terrible casting. It shits on all of the messaging of the show.
I mean, what if he does have actual sorrow, though? Sometimes people can take evasive means in public to deal with guilt. We can’t use just body language to guess his actual thoughts.
Say what you will about the show, but getting an IDF soldier to play this character is the best casting I’ve ever seen

With all due respect I think this analysis is dead wrong. I don’t really have the energy to explain why tho I’m just a little white boy
Quite possible. Almost certainly true. But if we don’t come up with crazy shit some of the time, only boring shit will turn out to be true!
If he dies this season, his last words will be “Ruthkanda Forever”

Maybe he does, but his actions don’t indicate it.
Based.
