Linux Mint is so much like Windows it was an easy transition for me.

I used FreeBSD for many years up until 10.x but these days I have an older laptop running LMDE (linux mint debian) with KDE Plasma. It is just so easy to stay updated and zero effort to do anything.

If you are new to Linux or haven’t even heard of it before, it’s an open source operating system (e.g. an alternative to Windows or Mac OS). Users of all experience levels welcome.

Rules:

Follow site rules. In particular no child porn or images/text sexualizing a minor (for this sub, this includes anime wallpapers with girls/androids/vampires/whatever that are meant to look like minors… If in doubt, black it out or just crop the image).
Be decent to each other. It’s fine not to like software/distros/etc that others are using and to point out advantages of alternatives but don’t put people down/berate/insult them for using stuff you don’t like. Newcomers, please remember we’re not paid support but just other users like you trying to help. Old hats, please remember that everybody has to start somewhere.
Please stay on topic. The intention of this sub is more for discussion, questions, help, tutorials, news, and the like. While I’m sure there may be an audience for neofetch “flexes”, memes, “programming socks”, and so on… Those are probably best done in a separate, dedicated community. If you decide to start one, let me know and I will consider linking to it from here. I may or may not decide to link to subs on instances that have blocked Exploding Heads (haven’t decided yet so will consider this on case by case basis).
