My guess, it’s legit, but part of the reason is to distract from something else (namely, Epstein). You can’t prove anything and it just makes you sound paranoid, and then they can use that as ammunition to ignore the Epstein claims.

88 is also common shorthand for nazis for the phrase ‘heil hitler’. Theres narry a shadow of doubt in my mind everything here is intentional just as you assume it to be.
Its also a lucky number in Chinese I think in part due to its symetry. It’s important to know the context each example comes from, but in this context it’s certainly exactly what you think it is.
