Oklahoma is easy to understand. Take white people, remove education, add some black people, take away a decent wage and hope. Boom, instant Oklahoma

Yeah, I drove through there once. Illegally pulled over and searched (oregon plates). Wasn’t even remotely surprised it happened. Fuck Oklahoma, apologies to those who have to live there.

I lived in Texas for over three decades. It’s my god given right not to understand Oklahoma.

Poverty, lack of opportunity, lack of education, lack of intellectual curiosity, lack of introspection, lack of a sense of adventure, corrupt leaders they reelect on ideological grounds instead of outcomes, but with progressive enclaves like any state

Source: spent a lot of time in and around Oklahoma

I do think you can’t get a complete picture of America without understanding places like Oklahoma, but America is a big place and contains a lot of different cultures.

It’s an interesting story, I definitely appreciate learning about this… and one which is very specific to Oklahoma, and doesn’t reveal all that much (nor would I say it’s necessary to hear to understand the crux) of Americanism.
