As a KH fanboy, this is, uhhhh, a pretty important mistranslation to clear up!! Holy crap. Makes Chain of Memories a better game in many ways, tbh

Funny that this article was written now, cause I thought people already knew this.
There’s a lovely 6 hr video (and two extension videos) by Tennelle Flowers on YT talking in extreme detail about why Riku is gay (and why it matters). The huge thing is she goes over the copious amount of mistranslations throughout the games, cause there’s a LOT.
Pronouns frequently get misued, Sora’s lines about Kairi get romanticize when they’re platonic, Sora’s lines about Riku get watered down, LITERALLY ALL of Don’t Think Twice and Chikai being opposite sides of a love song, etc.
Honestly this video was amazing, and I would’ve watched it a whole 6 hours if I didn’t have assignments due:
https://youtu.be/ll17V9DJr7gI really gotta play all the games 😭
@CatsofNovas@urusai.social I’m skeptical purely based on the end of kh-1 being such a focal point, but my interest is piqued :D
@neatchee@urusai.social All of my KH knowledge comes from my mom who played the mainline and some side games, as I haven’t had the chance to finish 1 yet, but I understand.
I do like the video, but I’m not here to sell you Soriku, I completely understand if you have skepticism. I’m just letting you know that it brings up many mistranslations and nuances that the English version had, and how a change in perspective of KH changes a lot of epiphanies.
But yeah, it’s still entertaining to me lol. I just like deep dives and being motivated in my journey to learn Japanese, so I don’t have to depend on sketchy translations 😅
