    So, these asshole owners did rescue their horses and goats, and now we are supposed to feel happy that one left-behind pig did survive despite their neglect?

      You should read past the headline sorry, of course you read past the headline, you mentioned the goats and horses in your comment. I just don’t think these are the actions of assholes:

      Lawrie said her father, Jeff Findlay, had tried to load Poomba and her sister pig, Miss Wilbur, for evacuation as the McDougall Creek wildfire advanced on the property last week. But they were too stubborn, and Findlay had to flee without them. The ranch was “surrounded by flames” when Findlay left, said Lawrie.

        They are ranchers. They are assholes by definition.

        All the animals we create are our children and all children are owed the unconditional love and protection of their creator. The experiences of animals are real and matter. Their suffering is identical in nature to your own. It harms us when we take pleasure in cruelty and violence.
