Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

I think we set a record yesterday for the most comments on a daily kōrero thread.

I think it’s great. Such a friendly community, and lots of help if someone has a question.

Yeah, it’s almost embarrasing. That other post was from 2 months ago when we had less than half as many !newzealand subscribers.

Yes, although maybe those comments will need to be in a different thread, since not everyone wants to see politics stuff here

I’m not sure we’ll actually see too much in the way of serious politics, just my observation based on typical messaging we see most days. Of course if the daily is flooded with political bantering, then it may need to be moved to a specific thread for the topic.

Part of the benefit of the daily is that you never know what you’ll see tomorrow, and there could, and often is, something really interesting pop up as we have seen. Even if nearer the election it is politically biased, it might still be interesting.

Bashing my head against a wall all day trying to process point cloud data on my laptop as works Citrix VM decided it didn’t like my profile anymore and the poor guy trying to fix it for me is swamped. Ended up he’s going to have to reboot one of the servers tonight to fix lmao. Hopefully everyone got the message to log off and it’s fixed tomorrow coz man my laptop isn’t up to this kind of work.

Watched Beau Miles’ latest video and it kind of resonated seeing as our second child is getting close to 1. It reminded me how selfishly frustrating it can feel when young children take up your time that you want to spend on other pursuits. It’s a reminder to me that it’s not permanent. Also a reminder that we haven’t taken a holiday for years…

I can recommend his vids, he’s a introspective and inspirational person who makes quite well done short videos.

Thanks for posting this! He talks a bit about how little sleep they are getting. Now my youngest is 3 and I feel like I never get enough sleep. But looking back, it’s still a lot more than I was getting a couple of years back!

And sometimes it’s my own fault. A couple of days ago I thought I’d better not forget to do that thing, so set myself an alarm for 2 o’clock. Forgot about it until 2am when the alarm went off! Got the am/pm bit wrong…

It’s been a while since I had an unwanted weekend alarm since I use my phone and it’s set just for Mon-Fri, but public holidays catch me out a lot!

Actually you’re right, it’s mainly public holidays or when I don’t have to do the school run in the morning
