If you are lucky this is the torque converter. If this is a Nissan with the CVT transmission then it is also possible that the transmission is screwed up in which case it will be a very expensive fix. Nissan is known to have really fucked up CVT transmissions that don’t last for shit.
Do you have a Discount Tire store nearby? If so you could go get 4 new tires and they would look at your brakes when you have them install the tires… It would be cheaper than what these guys are trying to charge you just to rotate the tires.

Others have explained how over priced this is. But beyond that when you are able trade the car in and get one with a normal automatic or even an old school manual transmission. The CVT transmissions do not last and when they give up the ghost it will cost you a lot. You’ll find lots of Nissans sold dirt cheap with transmission issues, because they are all CVT transmissions and unlike normal automatic transmissions CVT transmissions have a belt/chain that wears out over time. Hondas aren’t as bad but they are still relatively new technology for Honda so I wouldn’t expect them to be as reliable as an old school automatic. Maybe in another 10 years CVTs will have become more reliable but you are taking a risk with one.
Not sure about the Lexus, but Mazdas from that era had radiators that had a plastic top which would get brittle over time whether it was driven on not… So look at the top the radiator and if it is plastic and not metal then it should be black… if it is turning into a light green then replace it because when they turn light green or gray they can burst without warning.
The worst case scenario is they take you to court, the brazer gets sold which might not cover what you owe because the 1400 will have gotten much greater when the lawyers add on their fees along with storage fees… You could easily end up owing more than double the 1400 when you get a judgement against you… Now from that they can garnish your paycheck and you end up paying much more than you owe right now… So don’t be stupid, deal with them and see if you can work something out. Working out a bad situation is much better than ignoring it and letting the other side take you to court because that will result in you getting a much worse deal than you can ever imagine.
If you were in the business of selling used tire then he might have some recourse… but because you aren’t a tire dealer you aren’t liable for anything. Only thing that would change that is if you had known of some defect and then done something to hide it from the purchaser.
